The Rocky coffee grinder weighs in at 18 lbs. The exterior is comprised of polished stainless steel with rugged tinted 10 oz plastic bean hoppers. Given the unit's weight, there is no concern that a portafilter will tilt the machine. In addition, the grinder is a "direct drive" unit, which means that the motor's shaft is directly connected to the 50 mm burr plates. No plastic wheels turning this machine, just classic professional components, including a safety thermal fuse shut-off feature.
